MEET SARAH 2018-01-30T15:32:56+00:00

Sarah is like many other teenage girls. She loves shopping, watching movies, and hanging out with her friends. The only difference between her and her friends, is that her innocence was taken from her, violently. Sarah experienced sexual abuse at the hands of a family member when she was very young.

She was left with guilt and shame that she never deserved.

Sarah would then suffer constantly from these intense feelings, and with no way to deal with them.

In the hopes of escaping her pain, she decided to run from home.

Sarah’s trauma caused extreme confusion and brokenness. She literally suffered from feelings of hate toward herself. Not knowing how to deal with it or what to do with those feelings, she decided running from home might be the best escape. For a moment she felt in control of her life. She felt free and thought that through running she could be free from the uncontrollable feelings.

However, like most girls in this situation, Sarah soon found herself trapped. She needed a place to stay and grabbed a hold of the first man who gave her attention. She thought he cared for her, but she has never known what it means to be cared for. He provided for her and gave her a home, but she found it would soon come at a price. She was being manipulated, then abused, and now forced to have sex with men.

Sarah eventually realized that she was being exploited. She knew she had to get out… but how? Where would she go? Who would help her or even believe her? “At least I have a roof over my head and food to eat”, she tells herself.

She was fortunately one of the lucky ones who found a way to escape. Sarah isn’t physically enslaved anymore but she isn’t free. She still struggles with intense feelings of hatred toward herself and sees her life through the lens of her abusive circumstances. The wounds run deep and her past torments her.

Sarah is on the long journey of healing and wholeness. The good news is that she knows she has someone who hears her, cares for her, and can offer the love and support that she needs. We know her future has endless potential, and now we have a space where she can begin to see it as well.
